A Meme is Born

It’s funny to think that The Hampster Dance is 10 years old. If only Roger Miller could have lived to see the humble whistle stop he composed for the 1973 Disney Film Robin Hood become the most enduring of Internet phenomenons. In a hypertext world, a page staying in the same form for five minutes is remarkable, and the Hampster Dance as stayed relevent for ditital eons, first launching in August 1998 as an experiment in generating web traffic. The site was a hit, and I still smile when I see it.

All great art inspires imitation, and today a new meme was born. I give you The Foxkeh Dance. This new Internet meme is the brainchild of Alex Polvi, one of the mad geniuses behind the Firefox Crop Circle. Well done Alex. Hats off. And here’s to ten years of smile-inducing Internet goofiness.
